Our mission at JackandJillYoga is to master an activity that is challenging through PLAY.
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, with a love for fashion, fitness, family and friendships. I graduated with a double major in Consumer Journalism and Communication from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Go Badgers!
While pursuing my career in fashion, I discovered yoga unintentionally as a way to escape the noise of city life. Falling deeply in love with the practice, community and benefits of yoga, I became a certified instructor through CorePower Yoga (200HR E-RYT + Sculpt) and am recognized on Yoga Alliance. I continue to participate in yoga education courses through master trainers in anatomy, physiology, and intelligent sequencing. I'm also CPR + AED certified.
With the birth of my nephew, Jack, in 2018, he became the inspiration behind my expansion of yoga training towards children, adolescents, and trauma students. (95hr RCYT certification through Yoga.Ed)
The most common myth (especially with adults) when doing yoga is that you need to be flexible. My mindset is that yoga is for everyBODY. Yoga is a practice, and with practice, one can increase strength, balance and flexibility. I've learned throughout my journey that yoga goes beyond physical exercise; to me, yoga is a formula connecting mind, the body and breath to form a union. When a student arrives at their mat, they are making the conscious choice to leave judgement behind and meet one’s self exactly where they are at in the present moment. Taking the moments and teachings from their practice one step further by incorporating them into everyday life.
My intentions for my students are to feel welcomed, safe, supported, and curious to explore something new, while having fun and exiting the practice with confidence and calmness!
